OSHA, NIOSH Launch Fall Protection Campaign
A new fall prevention awareness campaign led by OSHA will provide employers and workers with information and educational materials about preventing fatal falls in the construction industry. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis announced the campaign at the Action Summit for Worker Safety and Health, an event honoring Workers’ Memorial Day. According to OSHA’s press release, in 2010, over 10,000 construction workers were injured by falling; another 255 workers were killed as a result of a fall.

OSHA, NIOSH and NIOSH’s National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) program are partners in the new campaign. During the campaign, OSHA and NIOSH will reach out to trade associations, labor unions, employers, universities, and community and faith-based organizations and consulates to provide education and training on fall prevention equipment and strategies.
